The Problem

ECO-Brotbox, a company specializing in sustainable lunchboxes, was looking for a reliable development team to support and maintain their ongoing Shopware project. The client had several specific requirements to enhance their eCommerce platform, both in terms of user experience and technical improvements. The client also needed to update to Shopware 6.5 but faced issues with several incompatible plugins. This prevented them from upgrading and utilizing new features. They also wanted to implement features like custom promotions, adding new landing pages, newsletter customizations, and presales to increase sales.
Additionally, they required customizations to Shopware's marketing tools to boost sales and improve functionality. They also wanted enhancements to their designer plugin, which allowed customers to create personalized box designs. Lastly, automating the manual box printing process using a laser machine was essential to streamline operations.

The Challenges

While implementing the requested features for ECO-Brotbox, we encountered several technical and strategic obstacles. Below are the key challenges we faced:

Incompatible Plugins: The biggest challenge was the incompatibility of their existing, heavily modified plugins with Shopware 6.5.

Designer Plugin Customization: Customizing the designer plugin, which allowed customers to personalize their boxes, proved complex due to its existing structure and technical intricacies.

Automation of Box Printing: Automating the box printing process using a laser machine was intricate. The client used Adobe Illustrator to input designs, and we needed to ensure that the output format was compatible with the laser machine for easy printing.

Presale Feature and CMS Limitations: Shopware did not natively support the presale functionality that the client wanted to boost sales.

Lack of CMS blocks and elements: Additionally, creating new landing pages was challenging due to the lack of essential CMS blocks and elements within Shopware.

The Solution

Working closely with the client, we transformed their online store into a modern, efficient platform. We upgraded their entire system to the latest version of Shopware. This helped to ensure the store remained secure and performed at its best. We improved their product designer tool to make customization more intuitive for customers, while also developing an automated system for production that converts customer designs directly into print-ready files. To boost sales, we added smart features like a presale countdown timer and custom landing pages for promotions.

The Result

The introduction of these new features had a transformative impact on the ECO-Brotbox website. The checkout process was streamlined, upgrading the user experience and reducing cart abandonment. The Shopware 6.5 upgrade allowed the client to benefit from new features and improved platform performance.

The presale feature and enhanced marketing capabilities contributed to a significant increase in sales, with the client experiencing a hike in sales figures. The automation of the box printing process also saved considerable time and effort, allowing them to scale their operations more efficiently.
